Module 2 Introduction

Welcome to Module 2: Mapping Personal Achievements

Embracing Your Past Successes

Welcome to the second module of “From Self-Doubt to Self-Assured.” Having started your journey by understanding and identifying the triggers of self-doubt, we now shift our focus towards building a robust foundation of confidence through recognising your past successes. “Mapping Personal Achievements” is designed to help you visualise and affirm your strengths and competencies, which is essential in the process of becoming self-assured.

Objective of This Module

The primary goal of this module is to enable you to:

  • Recognise and celebrate your past successes: You will learn to appreciate and catalog your achievements, which reflect your capabilities and potential.
  • Identify the strengths utilised in these achievements: Understanding the skills and strengths you have demonstrated in the past will boost your confidence in handling future challenges.
  • Create a visual representation of your success: By constructing a Success Board, you will have a tangible reminder of your accomplishments that serves to reinforce your self-worth and capabilities.

Why Focus on Past Successes?

It’s easy to overlook or minimise our successes, especially when self-doubt creeps in. However, acknowledging these successes is crucial because:

  • Builds Self-Esteem: Each recognised achievement acts as a building block for your self-esteem.
  • Motivates: Reminding yourself of past successes can be a significant motivational boost when facing new challenges.
  • Reinforces Capabilities: This visualisation serves as a reminder that you have overcome challenges before and you can do it again.

What You Will Do in This Module

1. Success Inventory: You will start by listing your achievements, big and small. This will not only include professional or academic achievements but also personal victories and informal accomplishments.

2. Visualisation Exercise: Through guided exercises, you will relive these moments of success. This not only helps in emotional reconnection but also in solidifying these experiences in your memory as evidence of your capabilities.

3. Creating a Success Board: This creative activity involves putting together a physical or digital board that displays all your successes. This board will serve as a constant reminder of what you have accomplished and what you are capable of achieving.

4. Sharing Your Journey: You will have the opportunity to share your Success Board with peers. This sharing will not only validate your achievements but also inspire others in the course community.

Starting Your Success Map

As you begin this module, consider all areas of your life where you have achieved success. Think broadly and inclusively, considering the skills you used or developed through those experiences. Every success, whether it was finishing a difficult project under budget or managing a complex family dynamic during a reunion, showcases your strengths.

This module is not just about building a board full of past successes; it’s about crafting a narrative of your life that emphasises growth, resilience, and capability. Let’s embark on this reflective and empowering journey to map your personal achievements and build a lasting foundation of self-assuredness.
